Indicator on dashboard not working

Featured Replies

The right indicator in the instrument cluster has stopped working. It has come back as a minor fail on my NCT test. Is this a DIY repair or will I need to have someone look at it.

If it is a DIY job are there any how to's floating around?

I suspect it's just a burned LED or more likely a dry solder joint.

It's a DIY job if you're competent with a soldering iron.

Coming back to this now after finally getting around to having someone take a look at the cluster. After removing it and giving to to a guy to check over all the LED's, he came back to say that only the speedo needle wasn't working, which I can live without anyway.

After putting the cluster back into the car, I thought I was onto a winner as the indicator was now flashing.  Except as well as the right indicator flashing, the cruise control light and fuel warning light also flash. When the left indicator is used, the dipped headlight symbol and again the fuel light flash. I've gone from no indicator flashing to it working but with random other lights also flashing all from just having the LED's tested with something that looked like a multimeter that caused the lights to illuminate when touched.

Any suggestions as to how to rectify this?

You haven't fitted HID headlamp bulbs have you as they have been known to cause some electrical problems.
