Maintenance Schedule

Featured Replies

Hi,

My MY18.5 Superb has 18,000km's on it I have serviced regularly since new. However my last service 12 months ago was for 15,000km's and now says time for another service as the 12 months has elapsed. The next service based on mileage is due at 30,000km. My question is - how important to service based on calendar months versus mileage travelled?

TIA, George

Most items on a service schedule are done by mileage and time, whichever is sooner.

So if the 12 months has elapsed you should still be looking at getting in changed.

the other thing to consider is the mileage will not decrease with excessive idling which will dilute and degrade the oil too. (Not saying you are, just that certain factors can’t be taken into account hence the 12 months)

(unless you’re on a variable service setup)

Thanks. I suspected that would be the answer. The Skoda is our 2nd car and we usually use it only for trips etc. so no excessive idling (the AutoStart prevents that but it drives me mad due to the lag delay when restarting, especially at roundabouts, so I normally switch it off!).

EDIT: I'm on a prepaid plan and feel I will miss out on major services due to not achieving the mileage for those services by the time the plan runs out.

Cheers,

George

Simply it is set on Fixed Servicing for Oil & Filter changes.

Oil & Filter changes is not Servicing & Maintenance where everything does not need doing every year.

It might well need an inspection / check if you leave others to do that.

Service according to your use. Stuff is only missed out if you do not make sure it gets done, do not trust because on a service plan they will be.

That Sunroof needs serviced, the Haldex & DSG does, brakes, air filter etc.

Location location location and environment.

Thanks @toot. I appreciate the comprehensive reply. You mentioned something that always worries me with the fixed servicing. Does the service centre do everything on the list?

@GWCTas The OIl & Inspection Services & even the Extended Scope involves very little and not all shown on that might get done and actual service parts and anything done needs paid for over and above the Oil & Filter service and look see and report.

Bottom in green is the old Minor / Interim & Major or Major & Major before the renaming in 2020.  Even then stuff might not get done, let alone checked.

The really disappointing part of the Skoda for me is that there is no service book and the MySkoda App appears to be nobbled here in Oz, compared to what I see on screenshots from Europe, and whilst it used to show a record of servicing it no longer does. All it shows is fuel remaining (but never seems to be up to date) and Vehicle Health Report.

Create an account on Erwin: https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/

Go to Digital Service Schedule and punch in your VIN

If your car was serviced by a dealer, you should see the history.

It's not exactly comprehensive, but better than nothing

Hi @CRB123 - it appears that option is not available to me. I have previously paid the fee to download vehicle specific information but I'm not doing that every time I want to check on the service done on my vehicle. If I have paid for 4 years worth of service in advance, I expect to get all the services provided that are stated on that 4 year cycle. Am I wrong in thinking that. Also, why no useable Skoda app here in Australia, especially when there are no other ways of proving the services were done regularly. If I was selling, I would expect a buyer would want to see that information in a reliable hard copy?

Not sure on that one mate, I don't have a paid account either and it just seems to work. This is how I found the service history on my Superb after purchasing it second hand.

Are you able to get to it this way instead?

Not too sure on your other questions, that's something you'd need to ask Skoda directly.

Hi @CRB123,

I can't see that on any of the menus that I have encountered. How did you get to the submenu "Digital Service Schedule"? I see you have it under "Products & Services" but I only get 2 options as I showed before. Can you give me the URL where you see that menu? E.g. the home page for Erwin for me is https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do I've even tried reregistering under a different name. This is what I get every time -

(EDIT: I see the "Electronic Maintenance History" but when I click on it I get the error shown in the screenshot?)

Cheers,

George

I believe you may need a business account for this.
I may be wrong though

Thanks @ApertureS but @CRB123 hasn't indicated that he has one as he bought 2nd hand and is in Australia like I am. It's a mystery. I'll contact Skoda here and see what they say. I haven't had any luck with them before but I'll try again.

Thanks for all the replies.
