Engine prob`s after fitting induction kits

Featured Replies

Hi ,don`t know if anyone can help!! I have a fabia Vrs which has been chipped (REVO) I recently fitted a powertec induction , after chasing a bmw down the M25 at around 120mph. I braked for my junction ,slowed to a stop then went to pull away , the car seemed to lose all power and felt very slugish. i pulled up left the car for 2 hours, started it up and ran fine.just wanted to know if someone coul dshed some light.

thank ant

Which part of the M25 was this, as every section of it that I drive on seems to have a 70mph limit on it ????????????????

Have you ever thought about just walking in to a Police Station and handing yourself in. You know the sort of thing, hands out in front, wrists together.

I wonder how many members on here are actually Policemen. :rubchin:

Oh well if Skoda UK are reading thats the warranty expired for fitting induction and if the police are reading as usual his just handed himself in anyway... 120mph on M25 is just stupid :thumbdwn: 50mph over the speed limit.

There is a time and place for speeding but 'chasing' is not it.

Oh and your problem is most likely car ECU cutting power after being overboosted for a lengthy period of time in its eyes. This heat and running at that speed in a car which suffers like all VAGs from having an intercooler in a silly place doesnt like it for long.

It was your collar being pulled back by 'Plod'

Bloody idiot. Doing that speed on the M25. You need your bumps feeling lad. Just the sort of post we dont want on this forum

I've learnt my lesson....

Now Learn Yours Boy!

Love your car, it will love you back too, whip it hard and it will hate you back, much like women, by the way i am a love doctor....

Limp mode by the sounds of it due to the long (and rather silly) high speed stint.

If it happens again normally turning off and re-starting will solve it.

Maybe a FMIC will solve the problem as it will reduce intake temps, as the fabia doesn't like the hot weather.

Just a head's up, members on here frown upon speeding in such a silly way, or boasting about "Street racing".

Oh and you are aware that on the M25 the camera are pretty much always on!

well thanks for the advise , but i like driving fast on the odd occassion! i didn`t spend my money to drive a fast car slowly. yeah i know its illegal but i`m pretty sure none of drive constantly below 70mph ! I apoligise for my actions I wasn`t boosting like some **** kid in a nova just giving information. flatfourburble could you explain what a fmic is ?

thanks jd

below 70? I do but that's coz I'm old and dull! :P

FMIC = Front Mounted InterCooler. Basically it replaces the SMIC that the fabia has tucked away within it's drivers side arch.

An FMIC will set you back around

Now the weathers getting hot my cars seems to be slow to respond to the throttle. Does it sound like its just the hot weather effecting the ECU or the fact that I was quite a lot late to get the car serviced? or both maybe :p?

Most cars do not like the hotter weather and will feel down slightly. So it could be the case that it's just suffering from the heat.

It's not affecting the ECU, it's because the air is warmer (hence less dense) so there is less air available for the fuel mixture which results in a smaller "bang". :D

Also I assume the car having less than minimum collant at one point won't have helped.

Don't worry, the BMW driver's a tit as well.

Next time you're at 120 look at a tree, or a lamp post, and think for a moment how inviting they look, alternatively jump on the brakes to see how far it would actually take you to stop if something happened.

Let he who is without blame cast the first stone?

I admit its not the cleverest thing to admit to, but some of the responses do seem a bit harsh...

How long did the poor performance go on for? Could it be heatsoak? My old corsa was very susceptible to it. If you'd been for an extended high speed run, then the engine would be toasty warm. If you then pulled up to some traffic lights and sat there for a few minutes, the engine just heats the engine bay and as you drive off the filter just sucks loads of warm air. It will really struggle to pull away, but then it should clear itself pretty quickly and return to normal. So possibly heatsoak, but if not I'd go for limp mode kicking in as suggested before.

Well said

That said and done posting/boasting* about your "120mph chase" in an open forum is really IMO downright silly especially since it is more than likely that both Skoda UK & :cop: (evenin all) are reading ;)

*delete as appropriate

i would realy like to see you get prosecuted for saying you done "120" saying being the key word there!! he could be lying ;)

the filth wouldnt have a leg to stand on

What a dumb thing to say. The M25 isn't suitable to do 120mph, then what is?

I regulary cruise from junction 2 to junction 8 at 120mph or more. I usually do it late at night when it is safe to do so, usually with other cars. Come to think of it I often see a new Octavia probably a 2.0TDi in flamenco red doing the same thing as me.

If you don't think traveling at 120mph isn't safe why do you buy a car capable of a lot more.

It's not the car that isn't safe, it's the person behind the wheel (and their opinion of what is safe!) ;)

the biggest concern at those speed is the people behind the wheels of other cars that don't look when changing lane etc etc etc....

thanks for info ! thought you were messing abourt when you wrote " pikey mods"! So i`m assuming that the big rad on the front is not an intercooler ? on another note , i`ve read alot about clutch slip after having a remap but with the recent hot weather that seem to have disappeared....which is nice .
