Engine prob`s after fitting induction kits

wo wo hold on a second i seem to of angered alot of people, trust me i don`t drive like that all the time (too many unmarked police silver evo , green jag, silver merc, blue saab!) most of the time i enjoy playing the "how many miles to the gallon i can get game) , and when i do drive fast it in the very early hours and for short periods of time. Over 100 equals an instant ban not something i really want ! so i`m very sorry for upsetting you all . now if you excuse me i`ve got to go and put a panema hat and tissue box on the back shelf!!!

thanks for info ! thought you were messing abourt when you wrote " pikey mods"! So i`m assuming that the big rad on the front is not an intercooler ? on another note , i`ve read alot about clutch slip after having a remap but with the recent hot weather that seem to have disappeared....which is nice .

nope that will be the rad lol. if you pull out the drivers side fog light cover and look in the ole you will see what I mean.

Clutch slip can be an issue for those with mod'd fabia's best driving around the problem to save the clutch, on the other hand if you have suffered from it and stop you might have glazed the clutch though dont hold me to that lol.

Interested in what induction kit you have fitted (PM if you want)

As for the other matter, it's done and dusted no need to flog a dead horse as they say.

Feel free to stay we are a friendly bunch in general :D

Once I noticed the slip , I ajusted my driving style which helped. The induction kit is a powertec item i`m not completely convinced if I like it, sounds like v6 tractor now ! I know you have to be careful as regards to not buying a filter which uses oil as that messes with the MAF sensor ( almost sounded knowledgable then) i was thinking I may change it back to standard with a green cotten replacement filter.

can`t really tell by your pic but is your car lowered?

I am one of "the filth" as someone said earlier in the forum. People always call us names. Yet who are the first people they call when they need help with situations that are out of their control?? I wonder??

I would just like to point out that doing 120mph is going to get you a minimum ban of 2 years and a huge fine if you get caught.

There is no need to travel at that speed at any time of the day or night. It is just plain stupidity. Speed limits were placed there for a reason. If someone does something daft. Let them do it. But its my job to prosecute such people. Then they moan at us. But whose fault is it. Not mine. I'm doing the job I love to do and what I'm paid to do. We get slated for targeting motorists. But if they didnt break the law with speeding etc. Then we wouldnt have to prosecute. I like to offer advice rather than sending to court and dishing out tickets to people who pay more tax than we really should. But anything over 100mph will see you in front of the magistrate from me.

There is no excuse to speed. Even us Police have to justify our speed if we are going to a 999 call.

Think twice before doing it. I have seen and dealt with the aftermath of accidents at that speed and they are not nice I assure you!

The Green cotton panel filter requires oiling when you clean it, but most aftermarket panel filters will be fine with the MAF so long as you don't over oil them :D

Chris

nout wrong with being filth, I often get called that......but I guess for a different reason!:D

Anything over a ton is a ban, I guess you take you chances and if you get caught you should not moan (not that you should be doing it in the first place).

Nice to see another police officer on the forum, even more so one with a fabia!

As for my car it's the same as the day it left the factory apart from a few more miles.

If speeding kills why does Germany have such a low accident rate?

I think it is the idiot British who cause the accidents.

Maybe if our beloved police forces spent more time trying to improve the quality of the driving in this country instead of pulling people for going 90mph it'd be a lot safer. Perhaps if the police targeted people who sit in the outer 2 lanes for no reason, or the people who just pull out without indication, or the people who do not get out of the way when they can, we'd have a lot less accidents on our roads and everyone would get there a lot quicker.

All these people moaning about going above 100mph is very dangerous, you are the people who get in my way, who cause me to brake unnessarily, you are the people who cause me to waste fuel, you are the reason it takes me 20 mins longer to get somehwere.

If only everyone could just learn to drive like we should, it is not a race, we are all in it together, yes others may go faster than you. But instead of trying to block them in, just get out of the way and let them get on with it, or join them.

Might I suggest IAM/RoSPA/HPC to you - they will help you plan your drive better so you don't brake unnecessarily and waste fuel

Chris

whats IAM/RoSPA/HPC? yes, i am a little slow sometimes:rolleyes:

They are advanced driving organisations.

Not sure what your trying to say tbh. Are you saying speeding is ok or it's not?

I personally think that cars have got an awfull lot more powerfull and faster in recent years. The problem is that peoples driving abilitys have not improved. Men in particular seem to think that they can handle any car at any speed when in truth the majority of the time they can not. I have to remind myself sometimes that I'm not Micheal Schumacher & I'm not a police man thats had lots of persuit training.

Also I think Germany have a very good motorway system and the laws for driving on it make a lot of sense. However I would also say that the majority of the time there drivers seem to have an awfull lot more common sense. I don't think there motorway driving laws would work on our roads. There are to many boys racers that think there Schumacher over here.

I would recommend that anyone thats wants to drive at 100mhp plus goes to a race track somewhere.

I've lost to many friends due to idiots that think there Schumacher. One was a 10 year old boy that was crossing the road to get a ball when someone who was doing 60 on a 30 road hit him. His Dad had to stand there and watch his son die afterwards. After something like that I really have to think twice about speeding. (oh and the speeder never stopped)

Thread is going way of topic but nevermind

As for speeding, yes it is wrong, yes we in general do not think people who boast about speed are clever. It's been said, person has learnt and it's now dealt with.

The trouble with most people in the UK is that speed is such a taboo subject, we are not allowed to go over 70mph on the motor way, so speeding then becomes an extra risk, along with that an extra buzz for the so called "boy racers".

Yes if we had a motor with no speed limit it would be a death trap but after awhile people would loose interest as it's not novel anymore. Another reason why it wouldn't work is the number of cars in relation to space on the UK roads.

Speeding is wrong and is breaking the laws of this land, regardless if it's safe or not in anyone's view.

I'm slightly concerned that so much fuss has been generated by one person doing 120mph on a Motorway. Sit and consider how many people regularly do more than 30 in a 30 zone... which is more dangerous? If your going to speed, I would say that a deserted motorway is the best place to do it.

If your going to speed, I would say that a deserted motorway is the best place to do it.

I would say the best place was on a racetrack/drag strip ;)

Chris

But then you wouldn't be speeding ;)

But then you wouldn't be speeding ;)

 Very good! :D

Chris

pot calling the kettle black anyone?

Couldn't help but give my two cents (pence???).

On the most part I've seen that folks who drive fast are rarely RESPONSIBLE for an accident. These are guys who are enthusiasts and know their car's and their own limits. It's the **** who changes his/HER lane, cuts across traffic, darts in from side lanes without looking, thinking dad own the road, and this **** is rarely driving more than 30mph. By the way a 30 mph accident will also kill. I agree with some a post above which advocates better driver training and might i suggest better law enforcement for the offences mentioned above. Instead of going after speeder with a vengeance get the ****s. Even at 50mph, if some idiot darts in from the side, the resulting accident will be mostly fatal. SO wat does one do? Call the politicians they'll advocate reducing speed to 10mph. Might as well trade my car in for a bullock cart ( They have many on the roads in India). Most of you have no idea wat stupid driving is unless you drive in India. People cross the freeway at will, and the cities are maddening. In delhi we have wide roads....but anyone or anything can come in from anywhere. What does one do?....be CAREFULL. Ive noticed that those who drive fast are able to make decisions faster, they look around more to see wat's coming from where. I routinely drive 100km/h in the city. The limit is 50 km/hr. But i keep the fundamentals correct. Brake on intersections(even when green), do not dart in from side roads, constantly check all rear view mirrors. ****s dont even look at their mirrors, cos they are going slow and they think nothing can happen at 30mph. As for germany ....those guys are good. But as i drive fast in india, i was able to drive on the German autobahn on the second day I was in that country, and first time on a LH Drive car.

Having said that, I'm very careful in residential areas, looking out for that wayward ball followed by a kid, and I never drive fast on side roads. Normally much below the limit.

My two cents is over and I'm going off to watch the India vs West Indies test match, where Lara seems to be trying everything to delay the match on the final day so he can draw the match without having to play. Unsportsmanlike behaviour if you ask me.

I am one of "the filth" as someone said earlier in the forum....

Sorry, but well said 53FabiaVRS.

Just because one driver thinks they are safe doing 100MPH+ doesn't mean you are safe for all the other drivers on the road. Having been hit by a tw*t racing another tw*t with them doing 80 on a 40 road I can tell you it's most unpleasent.

A doctor i went out with used to be a paramedic, and the one time i coasted down a hill I got the biggest *******ing of my life because she had seen the messy remains of a fair few car accidents.

You drive at 120 and kill yourself, then a few people have issues cleaning up your remains. You drive at 120 and kill others then a lot more people are effected.

EDIT: Saying that I agree that there should be less bleeding cameras catching people just over the limit and more traffic police nabbing the little buggers that don't indicate, that tailgare and that generally drive like scrotes. Yes I am aware the police don't exactly get to choose what is what, but hey.

back on topic slightly...i'm not sure if anyone has already mentioned this but if your induction kit is 'oiled' as are most I believe, it can affect the MAF sensor which would cause bad running...I know this is quite a common problem with VAG engines and I remember my mate attacking his powerflow induction kit with a healthy portion of brake cleaner before fitting it to his ibiza....something to think about...

Perhaps you people in the south don't know what it's like to do more than 70mph with your traffic jammed roads. Jiggad23 you should move up North! There's nothing inherently unsafe about doing more than 100mph. Only because we had a law passed in 1964. The Germans probably think our speed limits are daft at 70mph

Except the german autobahns have a good road surface and even our motorways have utterly **** road surface which are often falling apart or badly repaired.
