Midlands Rally 12 & 13 June 2004

Featured Replies

Some of you are now Streetly MC members and might like to know we're now involved in running the Midlands Rally :D

A tarmac rally that is a round of the national tarmac championship it should offer marshals, organisers, competitors and spectators the opportunity of seeing 120 of the best tarmac teams in England and Wales! Not only that but within a couple of years it should be using closed roads :)

Anyone interested in helping out make yourself known quickly and we'll get you a plum job! (hence the early notice)

Erik, daft question & I think the answer is "no".

Is a Rally licence like a Race licence in that you get an upgrade sig for doing a day of marshalling?

I'm interested btw.

Can I have a job with a whistle? :D

Answer to Q1 ~ nope you get signatures for each event you finish, I think you need 4 to upgrade to Nat B

Answer to Q2 ~ of course you can!

In for a penny in for a pound.

Can I have a white coat and carry my camera?

Thats a combined question and not a request for a snug jacket :D

Dates of event so I can pencil into my imaginary calendar?

Sounds interesting.

Like Colin the date my be helpful and would it be a problem if I am not available on a Sunday as Ihave a show to produce for Easter which will eat up my Sundays?

What does 'helping out' mean? Wearing a fluorescent jacket and try to avoid getting hit by flying cars? Sounds like a nice job for a lazy Sunday afternoon :D

Dates would help to persuade SWMBO to stamp my leaving pass though...

edit: Doh! Are we a thick bunch or what?!?!? The dates are the 12th and 13th of June :D. Consider my application filed with SWMBO.

 Is it only me that see's June 12th / 13th in the subject bar?

edit:  - judging by Q's edit - you're all going a bit blind today. :p

I thought it was me........ :silly:

Marshals would always be great, we're looking at a new venue that might even have a bit of "flying-wildlife-road-kill" for the gruesome among you.....

Colin ~ media will be a little harder on this event thanks to it's 'status' but I'll find out who you need to talk to and what you need to say ;)

Stupid me - didn't notice the dates.

I'll do anything on either day apart from looking after children or cleaning toilets.

I'd like a whistle too though.

Erik,

ooops I am blind...looking at hex dumps of code for bugs, head mashed...

I figured media might be a bit harder this time Erik, if not imposible for a weekender. Please don't go to any timeconsuming efforts.

I can stand on the other side of the fence with a orange jacket or the other in my big jacket and really long lens.

So count me in for whistle duty or tea tester  :airjock: anything, far enough in advance to reserve a weekend.

OK I'll keep everyone informed, we should be involved in the British Rally Championship shakedown event too, once again in the Midlands and looking for marshals ~ this time there should be some top WRC machinery there :airjock:
