Main Dealer Service

Featured Replies

Just had my 4 year service done at my local Skoda main dealer which was just an inspection. However, they also offered to change the spark plugs. My car's done just over 20,000 miles since new so I asked how much would be the charge and they said £150. I said no thank you. I don't know how much spark plugs cost but £150 to replace them seems steep to me? Another question, is it likely that they needed changing?

I hope they had a look see at the Air Filter.

Maybe you should, that is more likely to need replacing.

The VW / Skoda recommendations, guidelines, specification or even schedule is Spark plugs at 4 years or 40,000 miles and has been for years.

That used to be @ the 2nd Major Service.

Too soon for many cars, too long for some like 1.4 TSI Twinchargers that could have one plug ready to burn a tip off at under 20,000 miles.

Personally if i had a 1.5TSI ACT i would want to know how the plugs look at 4 years, but 20,000 miles is a bit low mileage wise.

You have a very expensive Cam Belt change next year if you have that done at 5 years old.

I would find a good VW Specialist Independent and not get ripped off with Main Dealer Servicing @ Maintenance.
