Hi

Need some help my Skoda has a steering wheel like on got it checked on a vcds and it saying no communication then points to angle sensor I have changed the angel sensor and light is still on issue am having is the steering wheel works fine and then some times it goes stiff but not to much can it be the pump on it that on its way out

It's a 2013 and I ment light

Yes it's the pump failing I'm afraid.

And will I need to get the pump programmed to?

Is that why it not communicating with the vcds?

Has the battery been changed recently? Not sure if it's the exact same problem but for me it was when I turned my car on I'd have no power steering at all and it was the battery. Does it go a bit stiffer when driving, do you lose all power steering completely when driving or is the issue only when you start the car up?

I bought the car as catN.on start up I have power steering just intermittent goes stiff don't fully lose the power steering but the vcds can't communicate with the power steering

Ah okay, then it could probably be the pump on the way out but can't guarantee as I've never had the issue

Update I have changed the steering angle sensor and the same issue is still there.

Could it be the pump then?

Or could it be bad wiring any ideas anyone?

No coding needed, I can't help you with the part number since I bought a secondhand unit when mine failed.

Was yours a 1.6tdi?

If so what was the part number off yours if you remember?

No it wasn't, but engine is irrelevant because they're all electric pumps and AFAIK they're basically all the same.

Well then I did try a second hand one but did not get it out on a vcd and the steering was rock solid.i have been told by other it has to be programmed in to the ECU so am confused

The PAS pump has it's own ECU, it's completely self-contained and relies only on an angle sensor and a good source of power.

If it's from a related model it should work, suggest you remove yours first then you can compare and contrast for physical fitting.
