Skoda SuperbIII 2017 virtual cockpit

Featured Replies

I have Skoda Superb 2017 in India.My question is can i install virtual cockpit? Any guidance around part numbers and actions needs to be taken to make it happen?

Yes u can.

U'll need to upgrade ur MIB2 infotainment unit (headunit + screen) to the MIB2.5 unit.

Then u can get the Virtual Cockpit dash.

U'll also need to remove component protection.

+immobiliser readapting for all keys :)

Also note that there are two versions of the Mk3 Superb Virtual Cockpit, these relate to the immobilizer version being pre or post 2019. The pre 2019 VC is not usable with a post 2019 immobilizer and vice versa.

Thanks frankenfurter. Can you help me with part no if know it already? I reached out to VAG retrofit who can help me code remotely using VAS5054s and they said 3VD920790 is the right part number for VC

The part number for both the old immobilizer and new immobilizer virtual cockpit is 3VD920790 but there are two versions: 5A for 2016-2019 and the newer 5C for 2020+

You need the 5A version I believe. Double check with your coding expert.

You also need the optical cable thing and trim piece above the steering wheel.

here is an example of a seller offering both 5A and 5C:

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! AU$866.37 | For Skoda Superb 2014---2019 Cocpit LCD virtual cockpit cluster 3VD 920 790
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mNB32Ze

I made this retrofit in 2020 on Super 2.0 TSI 280 MY 2016.

FIRST STEPS are replacing screen:

This was cockpit before retrofit. I had Columbus with MIB 2.:

I bought Columbus screen from Superb Facelift  for cca. 210 €, part number 3V0 919 606D :

Bought tools for screen replacement from Amazon for cca. 15€:

SECOND STEP was upgrading MIB 2.0 to MIB 2.5.

A guy that does these upgrades for a living upgraded my MIB 2.0 to MIB 2.5 with coplete memory wipe of existing unit, re-partitioning internal drive partitions and installing new 2.5 firmware. Hardware stayed the same.

After this everything started to work on new screen with MIB 2.5 firmware (including Google maps via Apple car play, etc...):

NEW-5.jpg

THIRD STEP was getting cluster LCD screen with optical cable and new steering wheel buttons (they need to have menu instead phone on right side if you wish to access LCD menu):

I got steering wheel buttons with "VIEW" for cca. 30€:

Now regarding digital cockpit LCD screen.

For EU market there is/was (in 2020) part number 3V0 920 790A. For Asia/China/India market is the same cockpit with part number 3VD 920 790.

If you take used LCD cockpit you need to get one from the same engine as you have in your car. At that time I couldn't find any good one from 2.0 TSI 280 (there were some for 2.0 TDI 190). So I ordered NEW Asian model from Aliexpress for cca. 600 € with shipping (EU models were all at least 1.300€).

In cca. 10 days I received it and everything looked OK:

FOR THE LAST PART

I went back to guy that does all the coding and installation.

In cca. 2h I got back car with digital cockpit. Everything was and still is working without any problems.

That’s because they aren’t on AliExpress, You need to find a second hand set or buy new.

Does anyone know or have a wiring connection diagram of fibre cable which goes from VC to headunit? I have a Ambudsen+ Canton and i read in one article by @Tin82 that a MOST splitter needs to be connected but for that i need to remove control unit in glove box. I placed order for VC+ MOST Splitter and due to not many people specialised in retrofitting in India this may well be a DIY project for me 🙂! Any guidance from experts will be greatly appreciated!

There are small arrows on the plug showing in and out. Just make sure the arrows flow in the same direction. Don’t have two arrows pointing away or towards each other.

the splitter is placed behind the glovebox where the oe MOST connector goes Into the infotainment control unit.

Question @IgorDeLuxe - The James bond film you have playing - is that through the car's internal DVD player or are you using a screen casting from a device? If casting, what are you using? TIA

Hi did you check if the AC profile option to adjust the intensity of air flow, low mid high still present after mib and VC retrofit.

When we press the menu button on the climate control module there is a fan button that appears on the mib, which has sub menus low mid high!
