drop 50mm with springs only?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone here has lowered their O1 with 50mm springs only (e.g. H&R)

Some people say that you need to replace the shock absorbers as of 40mm as well but then again other people say that when you buy quality springs you can get away with 50mm

I know changing the shock absorbers is a better option but I don't do a lot of km's and am planning to only drive around for about 2 years in "lowered" mode.
