drivers side window (again!)

Featured Replies

Hi, continuing to have some issues with my drivers side window, but progressing, although need advice.

Basically, have had problems with the electric window. Tried the little switches on door (twice and worked for a bit); then had a go at taking the window motor apart and messed it up so bought another one. Yes-I am completely useless! Any, have popped the replacement window motor in now. Worked brilliantly a couple of times. It operates the passenger window no problems. However, to get the drivers window to move up I have to press the switch down and visa versa the other way😁 I could live with that, except that when I wind window down and then try and wind window up I can hear the motor working fine but the window makes a juddering noise. I can get it to go up if I get out of car and put my hands on both sides of glass.

Do I need a new regulator or is it just sitting strangely? Thank you!!

First thing I would do is wind the window down, fire some talc into the channel both edges of the glass and see what that does. May do nothing but it won't cost you anything (assuming of course you have talc - or French chalk even).

Either the replacement was from a different car (should have said SK250DDRS on bottom line of part number label for a mk2 Fabia) or someone took the motor housing off and accidentally rotated it before refitting. Can you read the part number label with it installed? (Door card would need to be off to see).

Do you still have the old motor module, that you 'worked on'?

Not sure if the juddering is related to the reversed operation, could well be a separate, mechanical issue.
