Skoda Octavia 2021 mkiv dsg7 noise in reverse gear

Featured Replies

Hello ,

I have the Skoda Octavia 2021 1.5tsi dsg7

and from the first day when I drive for 30 minutes and more in the town when I put the reverse gear and go backwards slowly, it makes a strange noise from the gearbox.
The dealer told me that the sound is normal but I have a vw scirocco with the same gearbox and it doesn’t do anything like this .
Does anyone have this issue with the dsg7 ?
Beacause I don’t thing this is normal

here is the video .

Was that a technician from the dealership that said that the sound was normal?

Did they not have other cars with a DSG at the dealership that you could try.

They would clearly not be normal and not making a noise like that.

Best get it is for a diagnosis while under warranty, maybe at another dealership where they give a damn.

Yes it was a technician from the Skoda dealership that said that .

The car is under warranty until 2025.

Do people never ask follow-up questions? If the dealer said it's normal then he should be able to explain WHY it's normal and what's causing it.

To me it sounds like a heat shield or something rattling underneath the car.

It’s 100% either from the gearbox or from the clutch .

The dsg7’s are making a lot of strange noises that are normal but this one I don’t think it is

I will take it to an other dealer

If it's indeed coming from the transmission, there's a problem. I've never heard that sound on mine.
