2010 vibrating steering wheel

Featured Replies

Hi. I just bought a 2010 Estate Elegance model and I've noticed the steering wheel vibrates when driving on the motorway(dont have it on city driving). It does it more when I turn the wheel slightly right. I've got the wheels balanced couple of days ago and it didn't help. Any suggestions?

Welcome.

Did the Tyre Fitter actually have the car on a ramp and cast an eye over the steering & suspension?

Not that that might mean much.

You maybe need to go visit a mechanic that can check the car and diagnose and give you some assurance that all is well but there might be some minor repair or replacement required.

Best not just trust it not being much wrong.  Or even that the wheel balancing was done correctly, or alignment is right, or even the wheels are bolted on correctly.

It's a well known issue. Many people had it, including me (MY12 Superb 3.6). If this happens at the speed of approximately 75-90 mph, and you check the rims and tyres, then this is usually caused by sub-frame. The solution is to replace sub-frame with part number 1K0 199 313 AL. Let me know your VIN so I can check what is the part number of your current sub-frame, I beleive it is either 1K0 199 313 AQ (all engines but CDVA) or 1K0 199 313 AQ (CDVA engine). It might require also to change both left and right console (1K0 199 295 E and 1K0 199 296 J), wishbones (1K0 407 151 AC and 1K0 407 152 AC) and bolts (4x N 105 607 02 - M10x 70mm, 4x N 106 403 01 - M12x 100mm).

Hi. The VIN number is TMBKF73TXA9031730. I bought it about a week ago and I don't know how long it has been having the problem. Sounds like a pricy repair and I need the car daily for commuting. So do you think it could lead to more serious damage/accident if I continue driving it?

Your ca already has the right parts so in this case I believe this is the issue of rims and/or tyres.

To @pab567 - Hi.. Can YOU check this "VIN"-Number, too: "TMBLF93T3F9016252". I have the same vibration..

You have sub-frame 1K0 199 313 AQ:
