Welcome.

A mod will be able to more your post to the Octavia section and maybe change the title so that it reflects the issue.

Sorry not sure what you mean as I m new to this site and this is my first post Thanks

@Spit476

I just mean it will get moved where you might get answers.

?

Is it a 2.0 TSI or TDI vRS.  Petrol or Diesel.

?

How many miles has it done?

Has it had the appropriate servicing and maintenance?

?

Is this something new happening, or is the car new to you and this is what happens?

If it's a diesel, might it possibly be the DPF regenerating:

It is the diesel vrs tdi done 75000 FSH I am up and down M6 every week so don't think it's the dpf .Would the dpf cause the revs to stick on ?

So far as I understand it, an active regen will increase tickover. Could the hum be the fans staying on?

I'm of course only making suggestions.  If it doesn't seem right, have it checked out by a mechanic/garage.

How long does regen take because the revs stick on daily when I'm doing a continuous high speed when I stop at a junction it doesn't go to idle it stops at a 1000rpm may have to take your advice to take it to a garage Thanks for your advice 👍

It varies, but will need a more knowledgable person than me to answer that.

The thread I linked to in a previous reply is lengthy, but will probably answer most of your questions

Stop somewhere safe, leave the engine running at the high tickover, switch off the air conditioning, get out (or open window) and listen/look to see if the cooling fans are running, if they are then its likely to be regenning and you will probably smell it.

It should not be regenning that often so the next step would be to have diagnostics done to check the DPF load and the DPF pressure differential sensor.

Its 35°c here most days at present and I have noticed my car ticking over several times at 1k rpm at traffic lights but it has not been regenerating, I think possibly me having the AC on max may mean it needs a higher tickover on these hot days, that said the revs did not drop when I switched it off but perhaps it was going through a shut down cycle first. It could be something else for you to try if your weather is as hot and you are maxing out the aircon.
