Code reader/scanner

Featured Replies

Can a code reader suitable for the 2000 Skoda pick up with a 1998 engine fitted be bought fairly cheaply?? I have just tried a next peak obd11/eobd that I managed to borrow and it won't even light up. Perhaps there is a problem with the wires.?

You have to wait so the old OBD port that you have to make internet connection with the application of the OBD 11 on your smartphone.

If your OBD port has a problem (pins, cables etc) even the mechanic with the VCDS will have a problem.

The only way to find out is to visit a VW group repair shop or if ask from a friend of yours which has VCDS and a laptop available.

@D.FYLAKTOS yes I think there's a problem with the wires as the obd11/eobd that I tried wouldn't light up even I have a different throttle body from the other pick up I will try fitting that and see how it is as it has different sensors with it, thanks for replying.Eager.

@R_U_AFAhI I see from one of your old posts you have a reader for Felicia which is it and have you had any joy with it please? Eager

You can get one starting from £10-15.

Felicia is pretty basic in what error codes are logged and when they are logged.

The exact model I bought is an: autel maxscan vag405, an old model but it has no problems reading/resetting codes on the felicia. (I've used it on a few other pre 2009 vehicles as well)

I got mine from Gendan, if you fire them off an email with vehicle brand, model, and year, and your needs, as I did they can help select a scanner, and then you could make a decision from there.

Off cause if there is an issue with the obd port then no scanner will be any good.

@R_U_AFAthanks for that I'm going to have a look at the wiring and see if there is any power to the obd port later I'm sure it lit the scanner up ages ago when I borrowed it but it just said vehicle not responding so I presumed it was probably because of a different language being used by the vehicle.Eager.

eBay or ECP, they did not say if they were Chinese or not, but at that price I would say that it is a sound bet that they are Chinese.

I remember my problem with my Lambda sensor, nor the VCDS (2 times in different repair-shops) nor my ODB 11 show nothing.

Everybody thinking that i was wrong and the car was OK but my instinct saved me.

@D.FYLAKTOShi I have tested obd port and it has power to it (only 3 wires run into it) I think it's a different shape to the socket of the scanner I tried, will I need a adapter to join them? Thanks.Eager.

There are so many adaptors
