QI Charger Removal and Replace with MagSafe

Featured Replies

Hi All, I have come to the decision that I am going to finally remove the toaster pad from my RS. Every time I charge my phone all I get is phone shutdown from overheat. In saying this the engineering brain at VAG have put temp sensors in the Qi charger but as there is the rubber mat between them and the phone I think the rubber would been to melt before anything happened.

Now of the question. If I unplug and remove the Qi pad does anyone know if this will create any errors in infotainment system with it no longer being there. What I am doing is removing it from its holder (image attached) and them proceeding to fit the MagSafe into its place. I am using the latest Carlinkit 5.0 which I am finding quite good, had some others but phone calls had too much delay. As this has USB passthrough so I thinking of connecting it to that and see how it goes.

Would anyone know if there is a way of getting another USB plug for power only off the wired CarPlay USB?
