Skoda Superb iv4 - sound issues

Featured Replies

Hi there

ive had my iv4 for a couple of years and whilst the drive I can’t fault, love it, comfortable and hybrid works well…. I have had so many warranty issues I am almost family friends with my Skoda service centre crew!!  I rarely go more than 2 months without a visit!!  Battery, charger, SOS … the list goes on!

my most frustrating problem lies with the sound system!  From unresponsive screens to seriously poor quality sound heard by my phone callers (quality my end is fine) on both cable and Bluetooth which leaves me either putting my phone on speaker or using AirPods!  Neither great for a car of such an investment!!!!

any guidance would be great.  It’s just this week gone out of warranty and to be honest, I’m considering trading it because I can’t face another 2 years of warranty issues that just won’t be covered under the new extended warranty!

want so much to love this car - I get so many comments on it… but I do love to hate it!!!

any help gladly received!

Ps. Please forgive me for posting here / new to forums and no idea where to put this!!  The experienced of you, please be gentle with me!! 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤯😁

The Passat get (of the same age at least) had fewer issues as the system is the tried and tested mib2. Skoda chose to "upgrade" to mib3 for their hybrid car which seems to have been plagued with issues. Most of which have been solved with a new unit.

Sounds like you have had a hard time with the car which I'm sorry to hear. Makes me feel like I made the right decision not to get the newer Skoda and stick with a used Passat version 2½yrs ago.

Thanks!  Helpful to know to be honest it’s not just me!  The car is a lovely car - weird to say after so many issues - but now it’s just out of warranty I am dreading the next 6 months!!  2 issues already and I’m writing to Skoda to say it’s just not good!!

wish I’d stuck with my Octavia diesel!  Never put a foot wrong and 72mpg!!!!!!

I have the iV which is now also outside of the manufactures standard warranty. I did find the entertainment unit/screen painfully slow but updates at the dealer finally manged to fix it. I also had SOS error message twice which finally resulted in having hardware replaced.

I really like the car but didn't want to risk expensive repair bills so took out the skoda all in plan at £30 a month which gives me extended warranty, MOT, annual service and breakdown cover.

Hi, I've got a Superb iV with and it had the same problem. It's a 23 plate. SE tech.   Anyway, I had it booked in to be repaired for this under warranty, then last night the car told me there was a system update available, so I selected to download it (which took a couple of hours) then told it to install (which took 20 -30 mins) and behold the terrible crackly outgoing phone sound is fixed!!!

Another bonus I noticed today is that it will now do Android Auto through bluetooth without having to have the phone plugged it!! Result! Cancelled my repair booking as it's now great!

The screenshot attached is how it is now, since the update.
