62 plate vrs combi, brake fluid loss but can't find where it's going?!

Featured Replies

Hi all

The brake fluid warning came on, checked the brake calipers and floor for any fluid but couldn't see anything. Topped it up then my wife came home and said the light has come on again, this is about a week later.

Still can't see where it has gone, any ideas?

I read somewhere that it can leak into the servo housing behind the resevoir any one had that happen before?

That can happen but do you have a hydraulic clutch that shares the same fluid reservoir? Have you noticed odd clutch pedal feel?

If so the slave cylinder would be my first port of call, you will probably see the fluid on the undertray of your vehicle has one.

All the above might be totally irrelevant, I frequently make wrong assumptions about the Fabia thinking it shares the same components as the other vehicle platforms.

It has an auto transmission so I haven't thought about whether that could effect it. Would it?

There’s no connection between the auto gearbox and the brake fluid , you need to do some more testing (braking while stationary hard) to see if any leaks appear

No, please ignore my suggestion.

My money is on the brake booster, that's where the fluid's going, it's slowly filling that up.

If you have no visible leaks, it's that.
