Spare Wheel/Puncture repair

Featured Replies

So I picked up my VRS Wagon 15 plate yesterday. Noticed it doesn't come with spare wheel space saver, as a lot of cars in the last few years have come with. Has anyone swapped out their puncture repair kit for a spare?

My dad recommended me to take out the nice polystyrene divider in the boot and put a spare in there. However I quite like it how it is.

I've seen two different OEM part numbers for the foam and jack kit for the Octavia MK3 VRS, and these are 5E0093860C and 5E0093860F.

Perhaps take these two OEM part numbers along to a VAG parts department, and ask them what the difference is. They might not know. Although they might both be suitable. The 5E0093860F might simply be an updated version of 5E0093860C, but you would need to check.

You won't be able to use a front spare wheel smaller than 17" diameter because 16" rims won't clear the front brake calipers on the big 340x30mm front brake discs.

When you get the foam and jack kit, try one of your normal wheels in the spare wheel well to see if it fits with the carpet flush. If it doesn't, you need a spare wheel that isn't so wide. If you do need a narrower tyre than 225, you could use a 205/50R17 fitted to a 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 steel rim from the Kodiaq. This rim specification is available from mytyres

Another spare wheel option is a 7.5Jx18 ET50 5/112 57.1 steel rim from a VW iD.3.
