Steering wheel covering view of the top of the tachometer & speedometer

Featured Replies

Does anyone an issue that the can't see the tops of the tachometer & speedometer as the top of the steering wheel convers them? Bending your head down if you wish for a full view is not ideal!

The seat is at a comfortable position for me that said.

Any solutions?

I recently got an Octavia after having Passats for 20 years, I had the same issue in the Passats!

If it was an issue with the Passat for 20 years and you never found a solution is it likely now there is one?

Probably it is people the same height as you with the seat in the same position and the steering wheel that would have the same thing.

Not as issue for me on this car or any other car I've driven.

If the steering wheel is at it's highest point of adjustment and the seat is uncomfortable any lower or further back, I guess the only options are to put up with it, or get a steering wheel with a larger diameter.

Indeed. It was a forlorn hope that I had missed something!!!

Actually I did not know the steering wheel could be adjusted, but I checked and it's at the highest point...

Not sure why me...I'm 5'11".

The steering wheel can be adjusted fore/aft as well as up/down.

Your seat can also be adjusted up/down as well as fore/aft, also the seat back can tilt back/upright.

Should be able to find a combination that works and is comfortable.  Although I must say it took a fair bit of moving stuff around to find an acceptable position in my Superb 3, same issue, steering wheel obscuring the dials.

Like ords, not an issue for me either.  I'm 6'4" and it wasn't an issue in my 2015 vRS estate.  I did used to have the seat back as far as it would go on its runners though - maybe your seats have less adjustment range? (not that I know, just guessing as to why you can't find the right spot).

I'm 6'5" and also don't have an issue with the view of the dash.

Thanks. I looked up adjusting the seat and brought it right down, I preferred it up but now the dials are not obscured I think, need to be road tested. Thanks!

I don't like having the seat low.

Pulling the steering wheel towards you has a similar effect to lowering the seat as the wheel rises as you pull it towards you.

You may find its an acceptable compromise without having to take the seat right down. You should also experiment tilting the seat back a bit and move the seat rearwards  (if your legs still reach the pedals comfortably) and your eye line to the dash would be better.

Thanks @xman, yes I would like to have the seat higher. I don't want to tilt the seat back too much as I need to be upright enough for my back. From the manual/playing with it I have not figured out how to move the steering wheel towards me  (fore/aft) yet 😞

Unlock the steering wheel with the lever on the underside.

Pull/push to adjust. If it's never moved since new, it might be quite stiff but should free off quickly :)

Pull the steering wheel towards you/push away the steering wheel that is....(just clarifying)
