Possible new car incoming.

Looking likely I'll be buying a new Superb Estate(DSG 1.5 SE L). Skoda are offering a £3k incentive on PCP,

Typically the trade in price they are offering is pretty insulting (7,5k) on a 67 plate Mk3 Saloon 1.6tdi S 120 DSG with just under 80k miles. Would it be worth my while trying to sell privately ? I'm thinking the car is worth at least 9.5-10k? Thoughts?

Nothing to lose trying to sell privately or call into some local car Traders and see if they want to miss out the middle man as in the Auction and buy for Cash Money'.

'Facebook Market place', etc.  You will get bothered by scammers and time wasters.

BRISKODA Forum ' Cars for sale' s a good place to advertise a Skoda and it is inexpensive.

You can get an idea from various websites, some will pester you afterwards until you unsubscribe, but doing a couple will give you idea if price is reasonable.   Just bear in mind if there are scratches, dings, worn parts etc then will knock price down further.

Main advantage of part exchange is timing and linked transaction, selling separately can mean gap between cars, or paying for and insuring 2 cars.

I sold a car through SwindonCarBuyer.com who were good with best price, but just realised you are in Glasgow

Sold 2 cars via motorway.  First got the original offer price as it was my dads CRV that was basically spotless.  Second was MrsGs mazda 2 that was worth not a lot and knocked down further (less than 10%) when they saw the bodywork.  Both processes were painless and would happily do it again if required.  Certainly better than my limited experience with WBAC and the endless emails.  Still get the odd email form them for my mk2 octavia that I sold in 2017 to a trader.

Never used this lot, but concept seems sound...

Cheers guys been offered £8500 online from Motorway so will see how that goes. Lead time on new car is 13 weeks so may try to sell privately in the meantime. I have a van I can run about in until I get the new car so have time to play with.

Motorway have fairly strict T&C's which I found out when I tried to sell our Karoq via them.

It turned out that our low mileage (12,000 mile when we bought it on 2021) 19 plate Karoq had at one time been registered by the previous owner with a local council as a "pick up" car. This came up on one of their searches on the car & Motorway read this as the car being used as a "Cab" so they refused to sell the car. No if's or buts or discussion.

All was not lost because I got nearly the same valuation as Motorway when I traded it in for our replacement car.

Remember to think carefully about the so called £3000 incentive

If you go on the Skoda finance calculator, look at cash price and total payable, probably be near £5500 difference, and that is including the £3000, it would be £8500 without.   So deal is they give you £3000, you give them £8500 in interest and fees

If you take the £3000 discount and pay off the PCP balance between days 1-13 with no cost, then it's a good discount.   But otherwise you need to accept you might be paying back about 3 times the £3000 they offer you in interest and fees if PCP runs for 4 years.
