Bolt found on top of undertray.

Featured Replies

I have owned my mk skoda octavia tour de france since the end of May 2023. I recently took the under tray off to do an oil service and found a bolt on top of the undertray. Can anyone tell me where this is from. Its an m type bolt with a rounded top around 30mm long (see added pictures).

I am worried this has come loose and fallen out from somewhere in the engine bay

Er, that's a set screw, not a bolt. The threads go all the way up to the head.

Its a torx head screw, The only torx head screws under the bonnet that I know of are on fuel & air filter.
the fact its painted suggests air filter housing. Do you have 1 screw on air filter lid missing/looking newer than the others ?.

I cant think of any engine/gearbox/ancillary fasteners that are not Torx drive!

The air filter screws are a double helix self tapping type thread so you can disregard that.

The fastener looks suspiciously like the one that I have to remove that secures a bracket holding a wiring connector that has to be removed to allow me to extract the oil filter element and casing, a garage may easily have dropped that if you have the same engine set up, my fastener is zinc passivated finish though and that looks like a black Japanned finish and also quite an exposed fastener.

Chuck it in the spares box!

XZN, not Torx. 12-point not 6.

That I believe is the single xzn that is used to fit the bigger undertray? Other than that, I’ve got no idea where it would come from. And I’ve got no idea how it would float upwards to the top of the engine so it rules that out really.

I think a part number for it may be N91009701 if someone wants to cross reference it (I can’t at work)
