Could someone please help me identify what kind of paint/treatment is used on the underside of Octavias? I've got the usual rust/paint chipping around the wheels on the front of the car, towards the doors.

 

I'm planning to sand and remove the rust and apply new paint, but the original paint seems to be thicker towards the underside of the car. Please see attached pics.

It feels like some kind of rubber or a type of plastic dip. Is this a type of rust proofing?

It's overpaintable stone chip. If you're not bothered about an exact match, you can get aerosols that aren't bad.

Thank you for the info,Steve 👍 would Motip Anti Gravel spray work for this?
