Recently my air con became ineffective in my Rapid. (65 plate)

 

It no longer blows cold air. Earlier this year I changed the air filter and pollen filters so they aren't clogged. 

 

I had a health check done at Halfords which showed no leaks, pressure is stable. They said it doesn't need a regas. 

 

What other issues is likely to cause this? Compressor problem or something else?

Long story short.  

 

Just forget that Halfords health check and go get one someplace else,

 

maybe ATS Euromaster  or if you are up their way, book in at Victoria Garage Maud. AB42 4NP

I thought Halfords were perhaps trying to get more money out of me than required. They were saying around £93 for an air con service. 

 

I still suspect it just needs a regas but I'm not an expert on air con. 

 

I would not let Halfords service or blow up tyres on a push bike, let alone fit wiper blades.

 

Go where there are people not just with the gear and ideas,  but nothing between the ears.

I'm getting my Superb regassed this coming week actually. Just bought mine and although the aircon is working, it isn't as good as I'd like, so may as well get it regassed.

I got a Groupon deal to get mine done at ATS for less than fifty quid. Seems like a no brainer really. Although keep in mind if there is a hole in your system that'll just tell you that. So maybe there is a hole in a pipe or in the compressor, but doing a regas will help identify that. 

As thinks turn out. I'm not doing anything with the air con. 

 

I spied a nice Octavia at our local car dealership. He made a very offer for the Rapid as he doesn't have enough cars of that type on his forecourt. 

 

So on Wednesday I pick up a 68 plate Octavia 1.5 tsi SE L. 

 

Kind of sad to see the Rapid go as its been a great car for us for nearly 5 years but looking forward to a few more years in Skoda with the Octavia.
