1.4 TSI sound improvement

Featured Replies

Will bypassing the exhaust rear back box give much of an exhaust note change ? toying with removing the resonator after that ??

as ever any assistance welcomed

**** sounding cars which is just how they are IMO.

You are just going to be drawing attention to yourself, is it not better to make the car quicker if you need to or just use the accelerator and not announce to people just going about minding their own business that someone is driving a warm hatch about.

👍

I'll be controlling the bypass valve either determined by RPM or a selector s/w

Opted for a cat back front resonator delete 2.5" mandrel bent all stainless  with resonated back box with bypass valve. very happy with the normal sound and valve open sound. Twin black chrome tail pipes

Also got an optional front resonator I can simply fit as there is a removable section incorporated into the system to accommodate it

My review of the Exhaust work I had carried out

I took my 2014 fabia 1.4 TSI CTHE into Tony Banks exhausts Leeds for a hand made 2.5" mandrel cat back system with twin black chrome tailpipes to be made and fitted (rear back box on mine was corroding heavily). After discussions with David Banks we decided upon an un-resonated system with resonated back box bypassed by a valve unit. dropped the vehicle off at 07:00  and collected at 17:00 where I was given a full run down on the system and shown the installation (I can understand why it took 10 hours from start to finish to hand build such a system), all is very well fabricated and welded, nice and secure tucked up out of the way and tailpipes positioned and orientated perfectly. I also had supplied a front resonated quick change section (in case I found it to raucous).

Sound is as I requested both in "normal" mode with slightly more bass tone and in bypass position where I get a lovely deep growl and DSC blip changes with some crackle on overrun. I would recommend these guys if you are looking for a bespoke unit. In my opinion I got great value for money from a very knowledgeable and caring business, not associated or sponsored just positive feedback where appropriate

This was the first CTHE that he did i think.

@vRSgone,s car was pretty quick running a BlueSpark tuning box back 9 years ago.

Nobody had a Remap for them then.

I'll try to get some decent sound clips, no idea how but I'll try

When our flexipipe went we opted for custom route to replace, Caltek Systems in Ayr supplied and fitted new flexi, centre res delete and new rear section, very pleased with the job done and how the wee car sounds.
