ULEZ and other similar schemes we are being told are all about clean air for everybody but are they really just a means of making money from motorists?

@Graham Butcher "Around here." Very much relevant. For UK wide they will need rolled out UK wide. Getting full Mobile & Digital Receptions UK Wide might be a good idea. There are Average Speed cameras about on 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 mph & on 70 mph roads in many regions of the UK. It hardly requires having watched a Vlogger to know this, just pay attention while out and about driving.

I cannot see the cameras being used to charge people ppm it will be mandatory reporting like they have said. The way the cameras could be used is a back check for credibility, It will be quite simple for a registration number to be put into the computer system to validate "hits" and an AI model see if that 3,000mile was credible

@Evolution13 Agreed about the vlogger, apart from the fact he was seeing this happening years ago in his part of the country, the west of England, at the time, many here were rubbishing vloggers. Yes, much of what people here say is rubbish. There is not a single one of us who could not learn something new every day by opening our minds.

I also understand there are average speed cameras on roads that carry speed limits from 20 to 70 mph, many of which do not have a history of excessive speeds or accidents. There are many stretches of the A12 road which have had them installed recently.

I agree with the mobile phone signal aspect, and yet that has not stopped remote chargers being installed in some poor signal locations, which you have documented in some of your logs, and yet some others have claimed that they never experience such issues. There are some locations where you can get 4G or even 5G phone signal but still have major issues getting any internet.

ANPR was happening years ago and anyone could see if they opened there eyes. Drug Dealers and Terrorists tracked into Scotland before stopped here. Plenty ANPR for decades to Sea Ports. Scottish Ports to Northern Ireland. Who are the plenty saying the Vloggers are speaking rubbish when they are only repeating what the heard or read someplace else, or things they predict with any of us do regularly. The Muppet that buys cars is not Nostradamus or someone with an ear into Government or Think Tanks meetings. Is he still out their posting what is sometimes guff like is often posted here?

Indeed, didn't they also play a big part in catching the murderer of Ann Widcombe because they tracked him and arrested him within a very quick time?

Do you never watch the Murder Documentaries there are on the various TV channels & stuff on Organised Criminals? It has been many a year now of tracking vehicles. Much tracking during the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

Totally agree, certainly at least until they can get massively improved camera coverage and prove beyond doubt that the system is fully reliable.

Yes, I watch them occasionally.

Thank Goodness that Reform UK members, officials and Elected Politicians vehicles movements by road can be tracked.

Probably have special inbuilt trackers fitted as well.

@Graham Butcher 'Experts' that are local residents reckon that Private Flights during the Grouse Shooting season or during Golf Events in the Region are a cause of increased pollution. Their answer seams to be closure of the airport. Ignoring the fact the private flights will land someplace else maybe less that 30 miles away increasing pollution there. http://thecourier.co.uk/fp/business-environment/transport/5574581/experts-dundee-air-pollution-airport

I still reckon all flights should attract greater green levies in light of their greenhouse gas emissions. The individual motorists is too easy a target whereas airlines & airports have a powerful lobby influencing governments.

Good to see that the ADT will include private flights in the coming years.

The rates of Air Passenger Duty are ridiculously low. For an internal flight in economy, it is a mere £8. So, should my wife and I choose to visit friends on the Black Isle and fly from Southampton to Inverness it is £16 (2x£8) in duty. If I drive, fuel duty, and VAT on that duty (not the VAT on the base fuel cost), would amount to £28.60. Bonkers.

[Rant over, for now!]

When I first started this thread, I had my suspicions that it was a money-making scheme and far less about clean air. I kept pointing out that our air was already pretty clean and we were all on average living far longer than people before us, and this trend has been going upwards since 1950, never once dipping down, despite what we were all told.

Now I urge you all to actually watch this video, and please don't dare to comment without actually watching the video. I know that many of you claim that these videos are nothing other than clickbait, but you would be totally wrong on that point.

I also said that these LEZ cameras were being installed, using clean air as a cover for their real purpose, and many of you at the time disagreed with me and claimed that the air quality was actually shortening people's lives, despite figures proving the exact opposite was happening.

So this guy actually goes through all the contracts issued by governments, councils, etc., and follows where and who the money goes to and who has to end up actually paying and just who ends up making fortunes from these deals, and why there is never any real consultation and why even when there is massive backlash, with a bigger number of objections than votes were cast for the government in the election, these schemes still go ahead.

Genuine comments welcomed to this, please, but only after you watch the video.
