Service History for a used Skoda Karoq MY22

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have just bought a great 2022 Karoq Sportline. It has 20000km on the clock and dealer said that the first service at 15000km was done. The sticker on the windshield states this too and the infotainment system also shows that next service is due in roughly 10000 or 230days. That adds up with the kilometres and the compliance date of the car being Jun 2022.

Testdrive was great, got a good price with a bit of discount and bought the car. They are doing the detailing at the moment and I can pick it up next week.

I was interested in getting the Skoda 4 year used car service pack. Reading the T&C all should be good and eligible. However putting the details into the online form it says I can’t buy anything. Tried a couple of other VINs for similar cars sold and nothing with MY22 seems to work though.

Then called Skoda and asked about it but they couldn’t help really but said I should be eligible but can’t see any details on the car in their system. Then called a local Skoda service here and asked if they can help. But they also were not able to help further and just said I’ll get a call back from the head mechanic which nether happened.

Then called the dealer (VW official dealer) where I bought the car from and asked if they can print out the service record. They said they can but yet to see it when I pick up the car.

To be honest, I am a bit worried right now that something isn’t right with the first service the car had. It might just be that they did not record it on a Skoda system. Just want to make sure that the manufacture warranty is not void due to whatever reason. However the first 15000km service is really just an oil check and I do not expect that my dealer is lying to me about the first service.

Has anyone else made some experiences like this? Why can’t they just have the service book with the stamps in the glove box anymore.

Thanks,

Chris

Few manufacturers ( if any ? ) use service books.

Can't see why anyone would go to the trouble of stickers etc if the car wasn't serviced so I'd have nodoubt it was done.

VW group are famous for not dotting their  i 's and not crossing their t 's so to hear that some online purchase has failed doesn't surprise me. What does surprise me is that's your only option. Can't you buy the said service pack via the dealer rather than online?

Don't know what happens in OZ but over here it's VWFS ( VW financial services ) who administer such schemes. I'd give them a call if you get no joy elsewhere.

edit - there no T&C that say a car has to be 2 or 3yr old before you can buy those packages is there?

Thanks K,

first time for me to buy a newish car so I might create a problem out of nothing here. Previous cars were always older so never something recent enough in regards to warranty ;)

I also don’t think that something is wrong with the car and I might just be a bit overcautious here. Agree that faking the service is kind of more effort than actually doing it. But it seems that somehow this and the car is not correctly registered in the Skoda system for Australia.

Just don’t want to end up having to chase the dealer 3 years down because I have a warranty claim and Skoda can’t find the first service record anywhere.

In regards to the service pack it states in the general description: “You can purchase a Used Car Service Pack any time after your vehicle has had its first scheduled service or 12 months from the vehicle warranty start date (whichever comes first).” My car has had its first service and is 16 months old. So from that I think it should be eligible. The T&C say this in regards to the 4 year used car pack:

“5. When can a SKODA 4 Year Scheduled Service Pack be purchased?

The applicable SKODA Scheduled Service Packs can be purchased for Eligible Vehicles after the first Service Schedule, or 12 months since the commencement of the SKODA New Vehicle Warranty Start Date.”

The only thing where I can see my car is not eligible is because the term “Eligible Vehicles” is classified as:

“means any model variant set out in the Eligible Model List that is sold by an Authorised SKODA Dealer, which have purchased either a 3 Year, 4 year, 5 Year, 7 Year, 2 Year Top-up and 4 Year Top-up §KODA Scheduled Service Packs.”

For one my VW could be not an Authorised Skoda dealer - which would be weird being both the VAG. Second is the clause in the previous service packs. But that doesn’t make sense at all cause why would I need a 4 year used car service pack if I already have a 3 year one?

Does anybody bought such a pack with a only 1-year old Skoda that has had its first service?

Thanks.
