Drivers door won’t open from the inside or outside.

Featured Replies

Hello all I hope you can help, as It is a pain in the hoop now.

I have a drivers door that will not open from the outside or inside. I have taken the panel off and removed the glass and found that the both handles are still connected and appear to work, jus with no open door success.

I can not access the lock mechanism as I can’t remove the inner panel with the window mechanism attached. So I am at a loss as to what I should do next. Flooding with WD40 hasn’t worked either, or the good old bang test.
here is a video of a problem also

I think the deadlock must be set.

So, is the inner door skin bolted or pop-riveted to the frame?

I think you have to hack a hole in the plastic casing of the deadlocking motor, then you can rotate the pinion (lots of revolutions) which will turn the gearing releasing the deadlock.

There have been photos of the procedure on this forum and there will likely be some Youtube videos.

The problem is likely a broken wire in the door loop but of course you need the door open to access it.

The inner skin is bolted thankfully.

I was hoping something like this wouldn’t be the case and there might be a way around it as working on the door with it closed is a right faff.

Have you tried clouting the corner of the door closest to the lock while pressing unlock button?

try Petes suggestion first. sometimes a good thump knocks it back into line and it will open. at least then your in and can replace the mechanism.

ive done several post in the octy 1 section about how open the lock mechanism when the door is locked. dont for the love of god take a hammer or chisel to it like so many have done. its not necessary.

when you press the button to unlock, is the door getting power? can you hear the motor spin or is it dead?

if no power check the loom going through the rubber gator from the A pillar into the door for breaks or corrosion and the pins of the connectors at each end.
