Two quick questions.

Featured Replies

In reference to my MkIV SE Comfort DSG model.

A silly one first.

Was just wondering, as I don't really want to test it out on the neighbours, if my alarm went off what would it be?

Is it the horn blown in a certain pattern or is it some other sort of audio device?

Other query is regarding the trip computer settings.

I like my Fuel Average counter to stick with Reset After Refuelling but each time I try to set it it reverts back to Reset From Start.

Because of this I only get MPG for each short trip and not MPG from fill to fill.

Any idea how I can set this value and get it to stick?

Thanks in advance, you clever people.

Open a window. Lock the car enabling the alarm,  reach your arm in the window and wave it about.   Tell us what the alarm is like.

Does your computer settings not have 2 you can choose from.

Do you really not have an Average there that can be left running and one that resets.

If it does I can't find it .... which is why I asked.

As for the alarm question, I asked in case anyone has experienced of this happening as I don't want to disturb my neighbours.

"Open a window. Lock the car enabling the alarm,  reach your arm in the window and wave it about."

Well, the online owners manual states:

The alarm system will only operate correctly when all the windows are closed.

Well you will only know what yours does when it does go off.  So as an alarm hopefully it catches peoples attention.

What use is a silent alarm that does not disturb people / neighbours?

There is an alarm siren, it is not the horn, unless that has been done away with.

Try the window thing though.  Plenty in Skoda car showroom with a window open and the doors locked go off when people look in.

The alarm has a movement sensor inside the car, so with the windows shut it will not sound. By opening the windows and waving your arm, it will sense the movement and trigger the alarm.

As for disturbing your neighbours, if you trigger the alarm during the day and silence the alarm quickly, your neighbours should not be disturbed.

On fuel display, use right hand steering wheel buttons and thumbwheel to get to fuel consumption, then when it is displayed, try pressing down right thumbwheel, keep it pressed down then scroll it.

Certain options have sub-menus which are accessed with thumbwheel pressed down, most people discover the folders button, and the thumbwheel, but not the third tier of options in the sub menus.

I don't have Fabia mk4 but it is like that on some other models, so hopefully you will get there with bit of experimentation

This one was useful and seems to have solved the problem.

It doesn't work exactly as stated but I did find that if I use the scroll wheel to get to that MPG display then press on the wheel, as in a click, it goes through the choices on offer with each click.

The one it is left on stays selected (I hope).

Thanks.
