Recall Confusion

Featured Replies

A couple of weeks ago the local Skoda agent called to speak to me. I was out so they talked to my daughter. They said there was a recall, that thet would need the car for ~45 minutes, and would I call to make an appointment. So I called them, and I was told that the recall was for a software update which would be delivered directly to the car. OK, no issue.

So today I get a message on my phone telling me that I have an appointment next Wednesday (the first I had heard about this), and as I happened to be near the Agent I called in. Turns out that all it is is that Skoda wish to make an alteration/correction in the handbook, and it takes a while to register the change has been done with Skoda. I seem to remember this happening before. I will try to remember to post again when I've had the alteration done.

I had this 'recall' when my Karoq was in for service. It involves them altering a number in the handbook, it took about 5 minutes.  I don't even have a clue what the alteration related to.

After even more confusion (message about an appointment I didn't agree a date for, mystery warranty work and a sfety check which turned out to be unnecessary) I had my handbook corrected. Date and page of alteration in the back of the book referring to page 46, which turned out to be correction to the information of fitting child seats, which isn't relevant to us. I'm not even sure that the corrections are correct.

Their Service Campaign / Recall Actions / Workshop actions should show here.  & if they are calling or writing and they are not ask why, and do they know anything.

If a proper Safety Critical Recalls then they should have them on here, but then VW Group UK do not bother telling the DVSA much of the time,

or tell them they can deal with it through their own recalls.  Pigs might fly.    (See fuel leaks and airbag issues.)

S’pose I better find my manual for the car going in for a service next week.  Is this number important, if not I won’t bother and can just ell them to tick the “recall done” box anyway.
