Tdi top up oil

Featured Replies

Hi All

Our tdi kodiak was low on oil. 5k miles from new and was just off the bottom of the safe area on the dipstick.

I was away and my partner went to halfords and was sold halfords 0W20. It's a API SN oil and the correct viscosity but not stated as 508 compatible.

The guy in halfords explained to her it was not the recommended oil but the only one they had. She needed to use the car and put 250ml in.

I'm not sure should I now drop all the oil and replace, or is this fine?

The car covered just over 200 miles since being topped up.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Sean

It is to VW 508 00 / 509 00 that you require.    0w 20 FS IV.

( VW 508 00   for TSI,   the 509 00  part of that for TDI,s)     Even Tesco or Asda have the right stuff on the shelves.

Don't worry about the top-up, seems like a pretty small proportion.

Thanks. I was thinking the same. I'll top up with genuine and hope it's over the initial run in period.
