Can i just get winter tyres fitted to my mk3 vrs estates alloys? Rather than also having to buy wheels as well( for only a couple of months)

Featured Replies

The existing alloys are Skoda 18’s

Thank you

Just get Winter, or possibly a better choice All-Season, tyres in the same basic spec (width, profile, load rating, speed rating) as your existing tyres.

Thank you Dave, you’ve just saved me a load of money on wheels I didn’t want to buy

merry Christmas! 🤶

I'd go for All-Season tyres - otherwise you'll be back in the Spring having to buy a new set of wheels for Summer tyres!

Well the car came w near new Eagle F1s all around but I know they’ll be crap for Irish winter,I’m not overly confident of them in rain to be honest

I had Eagle F1s on a previous RS4 - they were MUCH better than the OE Pirelli P Zeros, and good enough for me to confidently drive on snow and ice - so I wouldn't write them off that quickly, but it's your car so it's your call.

Ok Dave.I cannot clear a tpms light on the dash for ages now, even with vcds.

Think I will take your advice and visit the experts at a tyre shop and get them in tip top shape 1st.

You may well have saved me a load of money again 🥳

Same here even on a rwd BMW 3 series.

BMW & Audi Goodyear Eagle F1 in bigger sizes must be very different from the Sh!te that they make with a STAR on for MINI,s.

Or wet or cold or snow in the south is very different.

Just beware of taking tyres off and refitting if that's the way you end up going. I think they can be refitted 3 times before the bead is stretched too much. Got this from more than one tyre place so either coincidence of them making money or the truth. Read into it what you want.

Good advice there Mark thank you very much

I like Vredestein Quatrac all seasons tyres. Very secure in the recent snow and ice in Derbyshire. Also fitted them to my wife's Kia Picanto ditto .

Been running on Michelin CrossClimates for years now - Subaru Forester, Freelander and now our Karoq. Very impressed.
