New update today

Featured Replies

Did an OTA update today with the rather exciting message about feature updates (I think it said) . Anyone know what these feature updates were? It managed to screw up the calendar as updates always seem to.

What is your software version? 1941 is the newest known version and has been around for close to 12 months now.

1969 has been spotted by SEAT owners - but I doubt that will have been pushed out OTA yet.

It's unlikely it will have even the same software revision number.

Even if it appears shortly I'd be nervous about installing it, in light of the previous software debacle.

I agree - recently has the 1941 update applied at dealership on my “new” used car as I couldn’t get the OTA on account of not being able to become primary user.  Literally come from the most unstable Infotainment system to a stable one so would be very wary of applying a new update in case it all goes South again.

You don't need to be a Primary user to get OTA updates

According to  ŠKODA……

Over-the-Air Update

Functional restrictions

Škoda Connect

Over-the-Air Updates are sent to the vehicle via Škoda Connect: Online System Update service. An Over-the air Update can be delivered to the vehicle only if:

• The vehicle has a primary user, in which case the vehicle is visible in MyŠkoda for the primary user and primary user is visible in the vehicle (Menu -> Users).

Online Mode is enabled (ON) in the privacy settings (Menu -> Users -> Settings).

My car couldn’t be linked to any account, no primary no nothing so couldn’t add VIN to my garage.  Combined with a multitude of other issues I Spoke directly with ŠKODA who said I wouldn’t be able to receive OTA updates if the car wasn’t linked so would need to go into the workshop.  Has to do this anyway so they could update the SOS module firmware.

@spcdust I really hope your dealer and Škoda UK can get your SEL First Edition sorted for you. I’ve had mine since March ‘21 (Sept ‘20 registered) and been through the full gamut of fixes with the latest updates applied in September. All works like it should, thankfully.

It’s shameful that your dealer get these known issues updated/fixed before selling it - in my opinion that’s definitely bad for their own reputation, and unfortunately [further] damages the Škoda brand too.

Keep the pressure on the dealer, using Škoda UK to add weight as necessary. I’m confident your can can be fixed - given the right effort & attitude of the dealership.

Since the Infotainment software was updated to 1941 and SOS Module firmware was also updated it's all been good (touch wood).  Whilst the selling dealer should have updated the software (as per Skoda Approved Car policy) prior to me buying it I count myself fortunate that at long last there is a relatively stable software version available.  Reading this forum the whole software debacle dragged on for far to long with no resolution and clueless Skoda UK and their dealer network causing a lot of stress for Octavia MK4 owners.  This forum was invaluable as I read multiple postings so when I turned up at the dealer I was fully armed in exactly what I believed they needed to do which was primarily "Don't just update to version 1941, also check the SOS Module firmware"

Incorrect. You can't use the update package from a Volkswagen in a Skoda (maps and radio database updates excluded). But the actual software versions are shared.

Just like the Golf 8, Formentor, and Leon our Octavia's use the LG MOI3 system which I believe is also known as MIB3 High.

Anyway, I have attached a screenshot explaining how to decode software trains.

Initial feedback seems to suggest 1969 is the most stable and responsive version yet, so I'll be keen to see it released.

It's also worth noting that if you're an Australian like me, we don't have Skoda Connect or SOS modules. We can't get updates OTA, we instead have to convince our dealer there is problem in order to receive an update. If they can't 'see it' then no update. So it's been hell-ish up until 1941.

In fact, my climate sync issue is still not fixed as of version 1941.
