Front shock noisy over speed bumps & diagnostics check?

Featured Replies

Lately I have been hearing the front shocks going over speed bumps handy and even over a small low section on a bog road. Not bad yet by any means, but I don't think I should be hearing anything.

I still have a standard mapfre warranty certificate issued by the garage I bought from, lasting 6 months, which has 2 weeks left.

My local mapfree supporting garage say they will run diagnostics next week and see what the issue is and then mapfre will let them know if they cover the parts under the warranty - I an not holding by breath. If not covered I will pay for the diagnostics.

Are these diagnostics available to anyone who hooks in a machine? I could ask my local garage to check quickly maybe if that's the case before bringing to the mapfre garage.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

You sure it's def the shocks? The bushes on the lower support arms are known for being noisy.

I have absolutely no idea. I just assumed. So some noise over bumps is normal?

+1

There's VAG service info for squeaking of control arm large bushes: void parts can be lubricated with rubber-friendly grease (same one as used for guide pins of TRW brakes).

If bouncing on front wing (by hands) tells nothing, if rods of shock absorbers are not leaking, if it's not concerned with upper mounts or squeaking control arm bushes...
Maybe shock tester can help? Here you'll get print-out about condition of shock absorbers:

Unless you have DCC the whole suspension system is purely mechanical so there are no electronic diagnostics! So running a diagnostic scan would be a total waste of time and money.
