Transforming My Base Octavia: Seeking Feature Retrofit Ideas for Egypt - Parts & Advice Needed

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm the proud owner of a 2020 Škoda Octavia MKIII Race Blue with the 1.6 MPI 6-speed engine. Unfortunately, as we all know in Egypt, dealerships tend to skimp on some standard features and options, leaving my beloved car with only the basics like manual AC, halogen headlights, and none of the fancy stuff like lane assistance, GPS, or even ambient door lights!

Speaking of those door lights, I'm really interested in adding some LED flair to the front doors.

My question is: can I simply replace the existing non-LED door parts with their LED equivalents? I'm hoping for a plug-and-play kind of solution, but I'm open to anything feasible!

Another area I'd love to upgrade is the AC panel. Ideally, I'd like to switch to a dual-zone or automatic version. Is this a realistic option through retrofitting, and if so, could anyone share a list of all the necessary parts I'd need?

I understand that replacing the headlights with LEDs is a whole different beast, so I'll leave that for another day.

Any advice, tips, or insights from fellow Škoda enthusiasts, especially those familiar with the Egyptian market, would be greatly appreciated! I'm eager to bring my Octavia closer to my vision, and I know your expertise will be invaluable.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Cheers,

To swap the heater for dual zone you need to remove the entire dashboard, drop the steering column, remove the support bar, drain the coolant and AC, replace the entire heater box and loom for it. Refit all and code the new system.

not a quick job at all :)

The door lights and boot (trunk) lights can be swapped over LEDs. They are plug and play.

I don't know about the AC but would imagine it would be a big and expensive undertaking

lane assistance, GPS

You don't want Lane Enforce, well not unless you want to drive only in the centre of well marked lanes on tarmac roads and have to use indicators for every lane change.

GPS - You don't want badly integrated GPS systems like the VAG ones when you can have better and cheaper separate navigation systems like, say, a Tom-Tom. (Other satellite navigation systems are available)

Paws4Thot, aren't you supposed to indicate for every lane change 😜
