Help required regarding ECE error codes.

Featured Replies

Hi Skoda fellows,

I hope you all having nice holidays.

Few days ago a daylight warning light popped up in my car's (Skoda Octavia Elegance 1.4TSI 2010) dashboard. Upon scanning, following three codes were found under Electronic Central Electric system:

1. 003232 [014300] Vehicle inclination sensor - Faulty.

2. 01134 [046E00] Alarm horn.

3. 02746 [0ABA00] Right daytime running light lamp - Open circuit/short circuit to B+.

NOTE: All error codes are with Status = Active/Static.

Regarding #3 error code, following observations are made:

- When Steering is straight then left side daytime light works but right side daytime light doesn't work.

- if I turn the steering to the right then same lamp on the right side work which was not working before. So it seems like lamp is not fused/broken.

As I'm not a auto mechanic, I've no idea about these codes so need help from community to understand the root cause and probable solution.

Looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards,

Are you sure it is not the foglight illuminating? That function will also light them both when reverse gear is selected with the headlights on.

If you are talking about the lower light unit under the headlight it has two lights and two separate bulbs in it.  One serves as a drl and the other is a fog light.  So it's perfectly possible for a drl bulb to have blown but the cornering lights, which use the fog lights, to still work.

Yes, it is under the main headlight.
There are two bulbs (1 small and 1 big). Bulb with red arrow in the attached pic is the one which works when steering is turned towards right direction but doesn't work when steering is straight to serve as DRL.

That bulb you arrowed is the fog / cornering light.

The other outer bulb is the DRL.

Thanks for clarifying.
I learnt this on the same day.

Any idea why this bulb works when turning right and not while steering is straight?
I confirm that DRL lights doesn't work on both sides. I'm thinking to replace the bulbs.

As has been mentioned a few times it's the cornering lights function.  As you slow and turn the steering wheel to turn a corner the fog light on the same side as the corner lights up to help you see the kerb and round the corner.

Yes, but question is that left side fog light is working with:

1. Lights switch is on Auto setting,

2. straight steering.

but right side doesn’t (it works with turned steering only).

You may have a problem with the fog lights in auto settings but just to rule out any confusion about cornering lights by using the front fog lights, here is the action list.

If cornering lights have been activated, then below a certain speed and light level:-

1) turning the wheels for a left turn will only turn on the left fog light

2) turning the wheels for a right turn will only turn on the right fog light

3) putting on the indicators will turn on the same side fog light

4) putting the car into reverse will turn on both fog lights

This last action sounds daft but is actually very useful for those of us in the dark countryside as it adds extra stray light to the hedges.

Thanks for your reply.

I did suggested checks and all works fine but strangely on straight steering + neutral gear, right side doesn't work.
