Featured Replies

Not had a dsg before looking at getting a new car been looking at face lift mk3 vrs petrol and tdi would prefer a manual but what’s peoples thoughts on the dsg heard there a bit of flat spot on some from the gear change anyone experienced it ?

cheers

Welcome.

Where did you hear about the flat spot.

I really am not aware of that with a TDI or TSI with a 6 or 7 speed Wet Clutch DSG,

or even 7 Speed Twin Dry clutch which 2 litres do not get. (Some mention a lag with the DQ200 DSG,s, but then they are on lots of engines under 192 ps / 250 Nm.

including on 1.5 TSI ACT,s & 1.0 TSI,s.)

I can't say for the diesel as I have a petrol, it's a bit more sluggish in auto than when using the paddles but you only notice the difference when using manual mode. They are a bit laggy when it's freezing too, but this is to be expected. Any manual I've had has always felt a bit clunky.

The flexibility it offers is fantastic, there is more variation between eco/normal/VRS, you have manual via paddles or almost like sequential shifting via the gearstick.

Just make sure for the wet clutch variation that it's been serviced every 40k to keep it running sweet.

7 speed wet clutch DSG,s if a DQ381 are not scheduled for Oil change services @ 40,000 miles, it is @ 80,000 miles but then you might want it done sooner than that.

A Petrol vRS with a VAQ front diff should have that serviced at 30,000 miles or 3 years or even sooner.

Newest ones are supposedly @ 20,000 miles.
