Tyre recommendations

Featured Replies

Sorry. Done the advanced search but nothing satisfactory is coming up.

We have a 2012 118tsi Elegance wagon, sorry estate, that is chewing through cheaper branded tyres now that we’ve moved out of the city.

We do two weekly journeys of 2.5 hours at a steady 100kmh on freeways back to the city (sorry forgot to mention, we’re down under in Victoria), then four daily 30 min school runs on local roads also at 100kmh.

So now it’s time to spend large and get the best possible tyres for our circumstance.

What in your opinions are going to be the longest lasting and safest tyres for our needs bearing in mind the extremities of our weather.

Half decent summers and plenty of rain, but definitely no snow.

thanks all

Michelin summer tyres have given me the most miles and are hard to beat.

Happy New Year !

Michelin Primacy 4 ST and Pirelli Powergy seem to be the most recommended tyre options amongst specialists out here.

There’s a $35 saving per corner with the Pirellis …and they’re in stock, so I think we’ll go with them.

Did you go with Pirellis ?

I had a set on a Merc last year and thought they were noisy.

I have been using Barum Bravuris as summer tyres. They are owned by Continental and work well and last.
