G-Tech 0-60

Featured Replies

Just got one of these off e-bay loads of fun accurate to 1/10th second. My Revo`d Fabia easily run 7.5 seconds 0-60 without trying hard the trouble is when you try hard it too much wheel spin and no faster.

Just tried it in the wifes Gti 150pd and in the wet and even though it feels slow compared to my fabia I got a 7.71 .

Anyway if i could grab some traction i think i could get the fabia into the magic 6.x seconds I will play again soon:eek:

Sounds like fun. How much was it?

Steve

just watch that clutch , don't give it too much abuse , or slipping may/will occur especially with a remap

£39.00 measure 0-60, standing 1/4 mile, 60-0 braking distance and engine BHP if you input the exact vehicle weight. I am impressed anybody around St.helens wish to try it out in their car give me a shout

very nice bits of kit, but i found the bhp to be way out when using kerbweight + me with hardly any gas... was 40bhp low.

should a remapped one not be faster? mine was clocked 7.9s 0-60 at the french car show when standard?!

They are fun, but addictive. My best time in mapped fabia is 6.6 seconds.

Best in Octavia, 5.65.

I only did a couple of runs before it rained so when i get a min im pretty sure i can get it down to 6.x .Did you run with traction controle on or off?

I would reckon the best way would be with TC off, and just regulate the power with your right foot?! Always seemed the best way when I had my Fabia - I tended to do a better job than the computer :D

Steve

I did a 6.6 at Elvington, my brother did a 5.65 in his Clio 172 Cup.

hi

I had on my vrs remaped 6,8 was awesome.

5.9 seconds for me (thats what the brochure/magazines say ;))

How does the G-Tech know how fast you're going ?

The latest Beta version of VAG-COM has a number of new features, including the following:

Automatic Acceleration Measurements -- Performance Calculator. 0 to 60, 1/4 mile, etc.

Run Measuring blocks, find a group with road speed in km/h, click the [Acceleration] button, click the [start] button. Data can be saved for additional analysis as well. Access this function by going to measuring blocks and finding a group with vehicle speed in km/h -- an [Acceleration] button will appear. For other brands of cars, it's also available in generic OBD-II, use Mode 1 and select PID 13.

See below for more details.

It has an accellerometer in it , so it knows how hard you are accellerating and for how long.

Quick bit of calculation and it can figure out your 0-60

Excellent so all I need is VAG-COM, a laptop, a cable and a straight road ;)

VAG-COM 3.11 can already log road speed so it doesnt take a genius to work out the 0-60 from that.

You could plot a graph in excell and get 30-70, 0-100, 100-0 etc. all in one session.

hey there, i am currently a ignis sport owner, however once ive paid for the car, i will be looking for its replacement, one poss wud be a fabia VRs, i was wondering wot outputs etc u guys get from jabba etc, and 0-60 times quater mile etc,

thanks

Just to :bump: this - G-tech owners, can the unit be setup to calculate other timings apart from 0-60 - like 30-50, 50-70 etc?

Thanks,

Steve

Not the standard G-tech Pro, but more expensive ones can I believe.

i'm still confused as to how it works out the 0-60 times...

surely it must have a signal to it from the car to say what speed its doing as gps just isn't quick enough in my experience.

OK, thanks.

It has an accelerometer inside it I believe. Which is how it can work out G-force cornering/acceleration/braking forces as well. For the acceleration times, it couples this to GPS signals, so it can stop the clock when it sees you've reached 60mph, or whatever speed.

That's my understanding anyway.

I use a AP-22. Best standard was 8.6sec to 60 with the fuel light on. Best remapped is 7.66 with a full tank.

That mirrors my times 8.5 stock 7.5 remapped.I beleve this to be accurate after testing lots of cars and dont think a vrs will go much quicker not with 3 gears to 60 so i find these 6.x second runs hard to beleve that would make it faster than my New Gti and that just grabs traction from a standing start unlike wheelspin city on the vrs

how does an accelerometer work then?
