How do you know that your fly wheel needs replacing? .......and how much would it cost roughly?

Mine is a Skoda Superb 67 reg DSG with 147000 miles

My MKII CD170 Manual failed at 45k. Main symptoms were judder pulling away in 1st and it clattered like crazy, but tbh I don’t know if it’d be the same with a DSG. It was bloody expensive too, about £1,400 and that was in 2012. No idea what the cost would be now.

Have been quoted £1500 .....the only noise I can hear is like a growling vibration noise when accelerating which over the last 12 months has got worse. Gear shift is still sweet and it drives grea.

That’s what mine sounded like when my flywheel went, no vibration or judder though, rattly growl when accelerating

My tdi has this noise when at idle and disappears when rpms are raised a little. Is the flywheel ?
