Burning the Manifold/trashing the catalytic converter

Recommended Posts

Looking for advise our Fabia 1.2htp .It as broken it manifold/catalytic converter within 18months/ 9000 miles .The part was rattling and blowing from the seal . The part was only replaced in August 2022. It was replaced because it had burnt holes in the manifold and the garage said it had been welded previously so was an ongoing problem before we bought the car in 2021. The car does not have any lights on the dashboard and it is not showing any codes,  it's also passed it's emissions tests.  Are we unlucky or is there an underlying problem.  Please help it's expensive replacing the Manifold/cat every 18months

There have been reports of cats getting very hot on the 1.2 engine before, it is generally caused by leaking exhaust valves, unfortunately this doesn't end well so I suggest you get as much use as possible out of the car. Try buying a secondhand manicat to replace yours.
