Flood water damage to front causing steam from front of Octavia MkIII vRS

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Did stupid thing today and drove through flooded road causing water ingress high on front of car. Thereafter noticed what I hope is steam coming from front offside of car. Hoping that the LED headlamps can handle such water ingress? Is this something to worry about. Also got condensation on headlamp. See attached pic.

Not so worried about the condensation since I see from other topics that this should go eventually depending upon temperature conditions.

The issue I am worried about is damage to electronic components or anything else that might catch fire. Thinking about it maybe the cause of steam is other electric stuff behind bumper other than headlamps? I dont have enough knowldge here hence posting for input. Just as long as it wont catch fire!

Many thanks in advance,

Charles

Condensation reducing this morning and it seems to have dried out more so a quick run is not showing any "steam". About to go for longer drive so will see.

Suggest you check your plastic undertrays if you went through deepish water at any speed. We have plenty of bits of plastic littering a local road/sometimes ford😕.

Thanks GM1.6 for the reply

Will do. It is behaving now and no more steam/evaporation coming off it.
