Water leak on passenger side floor?

Featured Replies

"There's water leaking onto the passenger side floor. The water is running down behind the glove compartment. The car is relatively new and hasn't had this issue before, it has just appeared now. What could be causing this, and is there anything I can fix on my own?

I've read that it could be due to the drainage for the AC system needing to be cleared. How do I access that?

The car is a 2021 Skoda Octavia.

Thank you in advance!"

There are drain holes in the gutter at the bottom of the windscreen, check that they're not blocked (we get loads of birch tree seeds round our way, total nightmare!).

If you have a sunroof check the drain tubes that usually run down inside the A pillars.

Years ago a new Citroën BX was delivered with the LH drain exiting onto the passenger footwear. Dealer had it back but couldn't solve the problem. I had it back & took out the trim to the L of the footwear & discovered the misplaced drain.

Dealer obviously didn't investigate very far & refused to replace the soaked carpets.

Anecdotally, i remember hearing reports of blocked or incorrectly installed pollen filters on various VAG models causing this in the past.

I had a bad experience with Water ingress on Drivers [ RHS ] Footwell and behind. Removing the small carpet revealed 'lots' of water under there.

Took to the dealer "We can't find anything" - Over a week latr they found a faulty Firewall Grommet behind the Console
After 5 weeks of stuck at the Dealers doing nothing, they finally got the right grommet, & replaced the carpets under warranty luckily.
