Skoda Fabia mk2 HTP 1.2 12v 2007 Power steering fluid question

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I just have a quick question. When replacing the power steering fluid on my 2007 Skoda Fabia can I use a syringe and just suck out all the old power steering fluid and replace it with some new fluid. Does the power steering fluid need to be bleeded so their is no air in the system like the brakes need bleeding?.

Thanks,
Much appreciated

I'm by no means an expert, but I had a power steering fluid leak and regularly replaced the steering fluid for a period.

Yes - suck out the old fluid. Then turn the wheels full lock in one direction - more fluid will come into the chamber which you can then suck out. Again, full lock the other way. Suck out the fluid. Add in your fluid to the correct level. Go for a quick drive, it is likely that some air will have moved as the fluid moves through the system. Opening the tank will release that air. The fluid level may have changed - top up - complete.

Why do you want to replace the PAS fluid?

God knows, it's a sealed system, so unless there's been contamination the fluid should be just fine.
