2.0 TDI VRS cooling issue

Featured Replies

Hi all, hopefully you'll be able to help here as I'm at my whits end and just about to scrap the car if I can't get this sorted.

My car is a 2012 2.0 tdi manual Octavia VRS, the car is getting on a bit at 245,000 miles but has ran great until now so I'm loathe to get rid of it.

Symptoms:

No heat from the interior vents no matter what's done with the air con.

Car running hot - think 110 degrees oil temp.

Coolant temp also hot at times.

Randomly loses coolant, but then other times you'll check it and it'll bubble up to much higher than the max level, after topping up to max level the day before.

These have all been replaced since this problem started.

EGR cooler

Head gasket + necessary bits

Timing belt

Manifold

Injector seals

Auxiliary coolant pump (as this was throwing up a fault code)

Any help would be massively appreciated.

That temperature certainly seems hot.

Have you had the thermostat replaced at all, does the temperature gauge read on the middle after driving for a short period?

Given it's a late Mk2, I don't suppose it's related to the issues the Mk3's had?:

Just a thought.

Hi, thanks for coming back. Yeah thermostat has been replaced. Temperature gauge sits in the middle for a short period after driving for a while and then begins rising.

Hi Gaz. I find it unlikely, I've had the primary and auxillary water pumps replaced.
