Octavia 2014 Infortaiment unit upgrade

Featured Replies

Hello,

Apologies if this question has been asked previously.

I own a Skoda Octavia 2014 and am trying to upgrade its infotainment unit. I'm interested in knowing if it's feasible to replace it with any of the newer OEM units available on the market.

Has anyone tried such an upgrade? Or, would it be better to go for an aftermarket android unit?

Thank you.

You can update to a newer mib unit.

I see you don't have a gps. You can add a module with a fakra plug and be good to go.

I don't recommend android units as the call quality is crap.

Ask @pab567 to fix you up good, many of us have done it with his cooperation

@octa_user what are the new features you are looking for:

1. Android Auto

2. Apple CarPlay
3. Video playback from DVD, USB, SD
4. CD playback

@pab567 would I be able to use these 2 items together. Both are on ebay and from different sellers. They would go in my 2016 mk3 octavia estate, also would this need to be coded to my car? Ty

Your VIN?

@pab567 I won't be with the car until 17.30, you did send me an update last year when I uploaded my old software picture.

According to parts catalogue, your car is equipped with MIB2 Bolero unit with DAB, part number 5Q0035842A and display unit 5E0919605H. What are you missing in this unit?

I want to upgrade to satnav and maybe smartlink if it's unlocked

@pab567 I keep looking at ebay but I'm getting confused with all the different models. The ones I showed above were up for £50 & £65

SmartLink - fully understood. It can be activated in your current unit. BUt what do you need oem sat nav, which is always outdated and offline, for if you have SmartLink and can use online navigation, which usually is actual and has traffic information available?

Would that stereo I sent to you via the ebay link work in my car?
