Ok, when you quote something you should see a double indented line saying something like "So long ago, $Usertag said:" on a pale grey background.

Below that you should see whatever you're quoting single indented on a paler grey background.

This text will all have a medium grey line down the left side.

 

When you get to the white area below the greys, type your reply there.

Thanks ... I noticed the problem happens when I am doing copy/paste of links in my Excel table/log for the car (a quirk of mine) 🙄
