1.9tdi 110 electrical problems

Featured Replies

Hi again.

So in amongst the various electrical problems I have a Pioneer aftermarket stereo fitted. I am wandering how many of the issues I have are related to the wiring problem mentioned in other threads where there is 12 volts going across the wrong pin. Here's the list so far.

1. Dashboard temperature gauge not working

2. Nothing at all on central locking either on the key or turning the key in the lock

3. Wing mirror controls the right mirror on both left and right setting.

4. Left hand LCD display which I think should be a clock resets to zero every time the ignition is off .

That is probably it for the moment thanks for listening!

Does it turn off on the key? If not, it's definitely wired up wrong.

No it doesn't!

This sounds like a known issue where the pinouts on a genuine VAG stereo are different to those on an aftermarket (eg Panasonic) system. I think you need an adapter plug, which should be available from stereo dealers, to correct the pinouts.

Took the beast down to the garage today as it has its French MOT on Monday. Got the door card off to look at the plugs on the comfort module and sure enough they are highly corroded. Is it a case of replacing the module or just giving it a good clean? I won't have it back in my hands until Tuesday so plenty of time for research!

Also found the Cruise control, which works! Possibly the simplest CC I've eer seen, didn't realise what it was until I read the manual... 🤪

but don't toss that comfort module, i had recently simmilar issues (depends where rust corodes the contacts ) i just gave the harness side and comfort module pins goooood clean and scrape off the rust particles....sealed everything in grease ( non conductive ) and put it all back together, works as new

Hi all. Took the comfort control unit out of the door, cleaned the contacts an no change 😕 any suggestions as to what to try next? Is it time for a new unit if so does anybody have an idea where to get one?
