Decent deal?

Featured Replies

Had an email from Bristol Street Motors regarding pre-reg Nissan Leaf N-Connecta @£15000

A solid colour (Red) but not much else available for the price.

Admittedly an outdated vehicle (CHAdeMO), but a decent home charged commuter option ?

Sounds a cracking deal.  @wyx087 knows about them.

That's brilliant deal. 2018 used 40 kWh cars are still asking £9k.  2022 used cars are asking over 13k.  Although those are Tekna trim but N-connecta contains everything necessary. During the 2023 price crash, they were asking £19-20k for similar pre-reg almost new cars.

The flaming red colour is default no-cost colour option. This happens to be the one my wife would prefer, over the paid darker red option.

If I wasn't paying for new kitchen this year, I'd have asked you for details, driven across the country to buy one!

As you are aware of the outdated Chademo rapid charging socket. It's absolutely no problem as long as you are 99% charging at home or at destination using slower 7 kW AC.

But on the other hand, Leaf Chademo also the only one currently do V2G or V2H. Newer V2H via CCS is coming from VAG cars, but it's probably 2-5 years before it becomes available to buy. So to a small group of people, such as myself, it holds tremendous value.

edit: updated pricing, looks like the recent end of UK production and pre-reg discounts have really hit used prices.  They were £10k and £15k respectively.

There are now adapters that can fit a Chademo end in to a CCS one so less worries there.

Nissan making more, or some, money out of the finance than actually selling the car.

If one could put a bit of a deposit I wonder if they would still play ball.

LEAF is C Segment and I wanted to order the 64 kwh version but Nissan uk had none, only the 39kw versions which range was not enough for me.

Even tge 64 kwh version struggles to get close to the Zoes range but I did like the form of these mark 2 LEAFs.

Wanted to buy British but not possible with the larger battery version not offered at the time.

I tried to buy one, but all smoke and mirrors apparently ☹️

Booooo, dealer/deals trickery.  Thanks for the update.

Looks like £19-20k is around asking for Leaf Tekna at the moment. £15k was a bit too good to be true.

Worth waiting a bit longer, see if any manufacturer panics and do a fire sale later this year when they realise they can't meet the 22% ZEV mandate.

They are going to be up sh!t creak.

Talk of having to limit what petrol's and diesels they are going to import and offer for sale.  (Ford)

Mild hybrid,s are not going to help them getting to 22% first registered.   They are going to have to be First Registering lots of BEV,s and selling used.

Well renting them cheaply.

Tesla sold 1,845,985 cars in 2023 if they do that this year they can sell an ice allowance of 406,000

The bigger auto groups could also takeover some of the many Chinese manufacturers?

They will find a way to meet the demands of the buyers

Or the buyers of ice vehicles not wanting Bevs will just hang on to the cars longer.

There is also the chance that Bevs will actually start ticking all the boxes,

CATL's 1,000 km battery could be it?

Must say I am disappointed with Bristol Street Motors.

The email I received indicated I could buy a pre-reg car (in a solid colour) for £15k, although my enquiry was met with an explanation the digital marketing team had released the email 'early' and no such cars were available.

Following the same link now leads to:

I had a variety of emails from them, but the general impression was it was an error at their end.

I had wondered if they were testing the Water though 🤔

Interestingly they are advertising effectively the same car @£14995, although it was registered a few months ago, although has negligible mileage (10).

And a few others, presumably all registered at the same time?

Sorry - the link didn't work.

Their website has 22 black 73 plate N-Connecta listed with 10 miles @£14995

Indeed - more than likely a company to avoid

The few cars I saw that are in stock on their autotrader account shows just a few miles, at most 19% in the red example. It's now 3 months after registration (73 reg), I wouldn't touch those EV's that have been kept long term at low SoC.

Zero EV knowledge and running the dealership like a joke.

73 could be 1/9/23 and they could have been here before then un-registered

I remember a story in early 1980's when "rear fogs" became a mandatory fitment.

There was a dealer caught out because they had to fit lamps slung under the rear bumper.

It was discovered he had a yard with "new" cars stored that where well over twelve months old, some with visible rust underneath. This can be checked with the vin numbers..

Legislation has since tightened up on this but i still think almost 12 months is possible.

The car in the Autotrader link was registered 30/09/2023, although another V5C was issued 09/05/2024🤔
