I want to upgrade my infotainment with a new display and a head unit. It is possible, if it is what coding will be necessary?

You have Swing radio, part number 5E0035867C - no Bluetooth, no SmartLink, no DAB reception, no OEM sat nav, no video playback... nothing but FM radio reception and music files player (from SD and USB). The question is what are the "must have" features out of listed below:

 

1. Bluetooth, with handsfree and streaming support

2. SmartLink (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink)

3. DAB reception

4. Video playback from DVD, USB, SD
5. CD playback
6. OEM navigation
7. displaying OEM maps in Virtual Cluster (Active Info Display).

I want to have:

3. OEM navigation

4. Maybe dab reception but I am not so eager to have this option

I will say that 1-3 can be called a must

Google for 5E0919605J, 5E0919606, 5E0919605M (display units) and 5Q0035864A, 5Q0035864B, 5Q0035864C, 565035864 (glove box unit) as both are required

I am also looking to upgrade my infotainment system I have the swing radio on my ŠKODA rapid 2017 and I would have to pay £210 to activate smart link just doesn’t seem worth it which unit should I purchase my VIN is TMBBR6NH8J4006994

Having it activated by Skoda dealer, even if it costs £210, is the cheapest solution in your case (despite retrofirring some aftermarket unit which I do not recommend).
