Right Wing Mirror LED Indicator Signal Light Clear

Featured Replies

Hi, this is probably going to be a stupid question, but I recently broke the signal light and it is now covered in clear tape;.  The light works fine, but I fear the sharp bit may faill my MOT.  Skoda want £120 to replace it.   I can buy the part online for about £20.  My question is will my local garage be able to fit it, as it seems quite a fiddly job to take out the mirror, then something else.  Or would any garage know how to do that.

Easy peasy to replace.  With a set of spuggers, a T15 and a little patience, its easy to fix it.

Roughly:

1) Move mirror to extreme most right hand side position and use spuggers to get behind the glass and push out the glass.  Disconnect heater / auto dimming connectors if you have them.

2) Use a small screwdriver to (carefully) unclip the rear shell (top and right hand side of mirror).  Unclip the shell and put it to one side.

3) Undo the two torque screw and put them to one side.

4) Carefully unclip the bottom of the shell casing.

5) You should now have access to the repeater indicator.

The gotcha on the mirrors is that the clips holding the top shell and bottom part of the shell are very tight and are prone to snapping off if you aren't careful (aged plastic and all that jazz).

Why not go and treat yourself to some clear "audi" style direction indicators from Kopacek https://www.kopacek.com/skoda/octavia-iii/octavia-iii-fantastic-mirror-side-marker-in-audi-dynamic-style-clear-version.

You might also want to upgrade your mirror puddle lights from them too if fitted: https://www.kopacek.com/skoda/octavia-iii/octavia-iii-2017-facelift-mega-power-led-mirror-downlight-ki-r (2017 Facelift version)

So sounds like my local garage can fit it OK.  I don't understand a word of it!  Ha ha.

A simple 6 min job, why pay a mechanic to do it.
